Adoption Process:

Step 1: Review this page, read our process, fees and review the cats and kittens currently available for adoption. Decide whether you want to complete a generic application (without a specific cat in mind) or a specific cat adoption application.

Step 2: Complete the online adoption application. We aim to have our first contact with you within 24 hours but depending on other applications or the volume of applications this make take up to 3 days.

Step 3: We review your application; at this point we will either reach out to arrange a meet and greet with the specified cat, suggest a different cat, reach out for clarifying information or you will get an email letting you know that we have gone a different direction and may provide feedback.

Step 4: At the meet and greet you will have the chance to interact with the cat(s) and ask additional questions. At this point the adoption counselor may give you the option to adopt that day or take some time to think about it. If adopting that day we will send you a text link with the adoption agrreement and invoice- adoption fees may be paid by credit card, debit visa, debit mastercard. You may also pay in exact cash (extra will be considered a donation) or by etransfer. Card is preferred for ease. Please let us know in advance if you plan on paying by cash or etransfer.

Step 5: You take home your new family member(s)! You get all their medical records, adopton agreement etc emailed to you. Petsecure will reach out to you with their insurance trial information and our team will invite you to our adoption alumni group to keep the fosters and volunteers updated (they really look forward to these updates!).

Why do we require an application prior to meeting with the cats?

This is because many of our cats are located in foster and it is stressful on the cats to move them to meet with prospective adopters needlessly.
We also want to make sure that we aren’t arranging for an adopter to meet with a cat that they would not be approved for (cat who has a history of being agressive with children and the adopter has three children under the age of 10). It prevents us from wasting your time (and the cat’s!) by letting you meet a cat that would not be a suitable match.

Adoption Policies:

At Abby Cat Daddy the Feline Advocate Society, every adoption application is reviewed individually with the needs and best interests of the cat or kitten as our primary consideration.

Because each cat is unique, we do not publish our full adoption criteria or decision making process. Experience has shown that publicly sharing specific requirements can sometimes encourage applicants to provide answers based on what they believe we want to hear rather than what best reflects their circumstances. Our goal is to have honest conversations that help us make the best possible match for both the cat and the adopter.

Adoption decisions are based on a variety of factors, including the individual needs of the cat, the home environment, lifestyle considerations, and information provided throughout the application and adoption process. Requirements may vary from one cat to another.

Abby Cat Daddy the Feline Advocate Society reserves the right to approve, decline, or place conditions on any adoption application at its sole discretion. We may also make exceptions where doing so is determined to be in the best interests of the cat. Our policies and procedures may be updated from time to time as our programs evolve and as we continue working to achieve the best outcomes for the cats in our care.
