The Adoption Process
We want the adoption experience to be straightforward, thoughtful, and focused on finding the right match for both you and the cat.

Find Your Match
Review this page, read our process and fees, and browse the cats and kittens currently available for adoption.
Decide whether you would like to submit a generic application without a specific cat in mind, or an application for a particular cat.
Apply Online
Complete the online adoption application.
We aim to make our first contact with you within 24 hours. Depending on application volume or other applications being reviewed, this may take up to 3 days.
Application Review
Our team reviews your application and determines the appropriate next step.
We may arrange a meet and greet with the specified cat, suggest a different cat, contact you for clarification, or let you know by email that we have decided to go in a different direction. Feedback may also be provided.
Meet & Greet
At the meet and greet you will have the opportunity to interact with the cat or cats and ask any additional questions.
The adoption counsellor may give you the option to adopt that day or take some time to think about your decision.
Welcome Home
Once the adoption is complete, you take home your new family member.
Your medical records, adoption agreement, and other adoption documents are emailed to you.
Petsecure will contact you with information about the included insurance trial, and our team will invite you to our adoption alumni group so fosters and volunteers can continue seeing updates.
Payment & Paperwork
If you are adopting that day, we will send you a text link containing the adoption agreement and invoice.
Why Do We Require an Application Before Meeting the Cats?
Many of our cats are living in foster homes, and moving them unnecessarily for meetings can be stressful.
We also want to make sure we are not arranging for an adopter to meet a cat they would not be approved for or who would not be a suitable match for their household.
For example, a cat with a history of aggression toward children would not be an appropriate match for a household with three children under the age of ten.
Reviewing applications first prevents us from wasting your time β and the cat's β by arranging a meeting that would not be appropriate.

Standard Fee Schedule
Adoption fees do not include the required GST.
U.S. adoptions require an additional $75 CAD + GST for paperwork and additional vaccinations.
More Than an Adoption Fee
Vaccines include FVRCP and will be current/up to date at the time of adoption. Please speak with your veterinarian about the appropriate ongoing vaccine schedule.
Most cats will also have received a rabies vaccine.
Adoption Policies
At Abby Cat Daddy β The Feline Advocate Society, every adoption application is reviewed individually with the needs and best interests of the cat or kitten as our primary consideration.
Because each cat is unique, we do not publish our full adoption criteria or decision-making process. Experience has shown that publicly sharing specific requirements can sometimes encourage applicants to provide answers based on what they believe we want to hear rather than what best reflects their circumstances.
Our goal is to have honest conversations that help us make the best possible match for both the cat and the adopter.
Adoption decisions are based on a variety of factors, including the individual needs of the cat, the home environment, lifestyle considerations, and information provided throughout the application and adoption process. Requirements may vary from one cat to another.
Abby Cat Daddy β The Feline Advocate Society reserves the right to approve, decline, or place conditions on any adoption application at its sole discretion.
We may also make exceptions where doing so is determined to be in the best interests of the cat. Our policies and procedures may be updated from time to time as our programs evolve and as we continue working to achieve the best outcomes for the cats in our care.
