Programs Offered by Abby Cat Daddy the Feline Advocate Society

Program 1:  Local Trap Neuter Return (TNR)

If you have a local feral or community cat that you are feeding (that we can confirm to the best of our abilities doesn’t have a home), we will TNR them free of charge.

Our TNR Program Includes:

  • Spay/Neuter
  • Vaccination
  • Deworming
  • Deflea treatment
  • Permanent ID
  • An ear tip (a small amount of their ear is removed while under anaesthesia to make it easy to see they have gone through a TNR program and prevents unnecessary future trapping)
  • They will be returned to their territory, at the site of where they were caught, within 24 hours of their surgery.
  • We will also remove all adoptable kittens if any are present.

Please email us at abbotsfordcats@gmail.com with the subject line “TNR” to begin.

If you’d like to donate to support our TNR efforts please e-transfer TNR@theabbycatdaddy.ca

Program 2: Last Litter Program

If you have a pregnant cat at home but do not wish to have the kittens, we can help.

In most cases you will need to be able to house your cat and the babies until the kittens are old enough to be vetted (8-10 weeks). Alternatively, if we have the availability, we may be able to provide a foster for your mama cat and the newborns until your cat is ready to be spayed.

Regardless, we will provide food and base supplies (litter, enrichment toys, etc.) to help keep your cat and kittens healthy.

When the time comes (the kittens will be 8-10 weeks of age) we will spay your cat and sterilize the kittens. Then we can move the kittens into a foster or adoption space. We will also make sure your cat gets an updated vaccine (if needed), deflea and deworm treatment, and permanent ID linked to you. This is considered basic care. All kittens that are born in the Last Litter program have to go through our adoption process so that this program can be free of charge for you.

Please Note: We will not cover the medical care of your cat while they are in the Last Litter program, beyond basic care. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure adequate care is provided, and any special needs are met.

Please email us at abbotsfordcats@gmail.com with the subject line “Last Litter Program” to begin.

Program 3:  Adoptions

Abby Cat Daddy brings in cats and kittens from the local area (Mission/ Abbotsford/ Chilliwack). We bring cats through our TNR Program, community surrenders and stray holds that have expired. These cats go through our medical vetting (vaccinations, flea and deworm treatment, spay/neuter, permanent ID, etc.). Once we have ensured that the cats are healthy, we adopt them out.

The Adoption Program is the main source of revenue for the rescue. You can see who we have available at any time by checking our PetFinder profile.

Program 4: Barn Cat Program

This program is not a common program we offer, however the need does arise occasionally. Through our TNR program we sometimes are unable to safely return the cat back to it’s home site due to construction, natural disaster or predators – in these situations, we look for individuals who have barns that can hold a cat for 6-8 weeks and are looking for a barn cat.

You must be able to contain and house the cat for 6-8 weeks in order to acclimate them to your property. If this is not done they have a high chance of running away and getting lost or killed.

You are responsible for ensuring they have access to food and clean water daily or at all times.

This program is available by nominal donation.

Please email us at abbotsfordcats@gmail.com with the subject line “Barn Cat” to begin.

Program 5:  Lower Cost Spay and Neuter Program

Abby Cat Daddy is able to offer this spay and neuter program to the residents of Abbotsford and Mission. This is a standard spay or neuter and includes take-home pain meds, nail trimming, standard vaccination, and microchip. Once you’ve filled out the application and have sent payment as directed, we will reach out with a confirmation email and a voucher number with instructions for the surgery. After payment has been confirmed you should receive confirmation within 24 hours. Spay or neuters cost $165.

The spay and neuter program is our way of helping reduce accidental litters, and the stray cat population and make our cat communities happier and healthier. For more information, or to go to the application see the link below:
