The Problem: Why Your Help Matters
Every day, dozens of kittens are born outdoors in British Columbia without a home, proper nutrition, or medical care. In just four months, these kittens can also reproduce, continuing the cycle of overpopulation.
What causes this crisis?
- 40% of lost cats never return home, contributing to the overpopulation crisis.
- Four out of five cats that go missing are not spayed or neutered.
- Many stray cats were once lost pets that never made it home.
How We Can Fix It
The most effective way to end this cycle is through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). By sterilizing community cats as soon as they are found, we prevent future litters and improve their quality of life.

Volunteer Opportunities
As a volunteer run organization we rely heavily on dozens of volunteers in many different roles and capacities.
Read below the descriptions of some of these volunteer roles.
Thrift Store Volunteer
Support Pawsitive Thrift through customer service, sales, donation sorting, item processing, store organization, and light cleaning. Volunteers may also help care for the adoptable cats staying at the store. Pulling foster supply requests, helping with our feline food bank.
Cat Care at Pawsitive Thrift
Provide morning or evening care for the cats staying at our thrift store adoption centre. Duties include feeding, refreshing water, cleaning litter boxes and rooms, monitoring the cats, and giving them attention and enrichment.
PetSmart Cat Care Attendant
Help care for adoptable cats at one of our PetSmart adoption centres in Sumas, Highstreet, Chilliwack, or Surrey Boardwalk. Volunteers provide food and fresh water, clean litter boxes and enclosures, offer socialization, and share updates with the rescue team. Your care helps keep each cat comfortable while they wait for adoption.
Community Impact Team
Join our hands on field response team supporting cats throughout the Fraser Valley. Volunteers assist with humane trapping, TNR, rescue efforts, transportation, lost cat reunification, and community education. This role is best suited to calm, compassionate problem solvers who are comfortable working outdoors, lifting traps and carriers, and responding during evenings or weekends. Access to a reliable vehicle and smartphone is required.
Rescue Reception Team
Support the rescue behind the scenes by helping respond to inquiries, organize information, and direct community members to the appropriate resources or applications. This role is completed remotely and requires reliable access to a computer and internet connection.
VOA or RVT Volunteer
Use your veterinary training to support cats receiving care through our rescue and clinic programs. Responsibilities will depend on your qualifications and may include patient handling, treatment support, surgical preparation, recovery monitoring, medical documentation, and other clinical duties.
Adoptions Support Team
Support our adoption process remotely by contacting applicants for additional information, verifying landlord approval, and sending follow up emails after adoption. This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, confidentiality, and reliable access to a computer and internet connection.

Cat Fosters
Fosters are essential to everything we do. By opening your home to a cat or kitten in need, you provide a safe and loving place for them to grow, recover, and prepare for adoption.
Foster opportunities may include:
• Neonatal kittens requiring bottle or tube feeding
• Pregnant cats and mothers with kittens
• Kittens growing until they are ready for adoption
• Adult cats needing time to adjust and build confidence
• Cats recovering from illness, injury, or medical treatment
• Cats needing a temporary break from the shelter or adoption centre environment
Abby Cat Daddy provides the food, litter, supplies, veterinary care, and ongoing guidance needed for each foster placement. Foster families provide a safe indoor space, daily care, socialization, transportation to scheduled appointments when required, and regular updates about the cat’s health and progress.
Experience is helpful, but it is not required for every foster placement. We work to match each foster with cats that suit their experience, availability, household, and comfort level.
Fostering can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months, depending on the needs of the cat. Every placement creates space for us to help another local cat in need.

Sign the Petition for Improving Safety for Cats with bylaws in BC
Countless rescues and volunteer TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) groups work on taking in feral kittens and stray cats in an effort to make a dent in the overpopulation of stray, feral and abandoned cats in their communities. This is done by spaying and neutering the adult cats they come across without owners. We are looking for more support and protection for the local ecosystems that cats can impact, the cats themselves, to get permanent ID and (microchips and tattoos), and getting owned cats spayed or neutered to prevent overpopulation.
We are petitioning local and provincial governments to implement a pet registry for cats, similar to existing dog licensing programs. This would ensure that cats receive fair treatment, are properly identified, and receive the care they need.

My name is Logan Bryan, and I am the Founder of Abby Cat Daddy The Feline Advocate Society. The death of my beloved soul cat Leo is what pushed me into cat rescue and changed the direction of my life. As a vegan, I felt a deep responsibility to do more than adopt and provide care on an individual level. I began my rescue work through Trap Neuter Return, which remains the backbone of Abby Cat Daddy today. I am deeply committed to reducing suffering through ethical rescue, prevention, and community based solutions that protect cats and support the people who care for them.
Sharon Bison is a Director at Abby Cat Daddy The Feline Advocate Society and the Owner and Entrepreneur behind Teddy Bear Dreams, a beloved dance clothing store built on creativity, care, and community. With a strong passion for supporting local initiatives, Sharon brings both business insight and heart to her role at ACD, helping strengthen programs that protect and advocate for cats in need. At home, Sharon is happily kept company by her cat Toby, who reminds her daily why compassion and community driven work matter so much.
My name is Raylene Mumford, and I have a lifelong passion for rescuing and caring for animals. For decades, my family and I have opened our hearts and homes to animals in need, offering safety, compassion, and a second chance at life. That tradition continues today with my own rescue, a spirited 12-year-old who keeps me on my toes and reminds me daily why this work matters. Supporting and advocating for animals has always been close to my heart, and I am deeply committed to continuing that work in every way I can.
